Position Overview

General Summary

 

As an Electronics Technician III, you are responsible for leading the test processes, test results management, hand fabrication, component troubleshooting of production products.  You will also be assisting in the development and maintenance of electronic test processes for production/assembly and providing input to ensure that products meet the regulatory and industry standardized tests. You will also assist with design, component selection and testing of new products. You will also create specification sheets and end user documentation such as installation guides and troubleshooting steps.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and isolates product malfunctions as reported by users and customers.
  • Recommends changes in processes to simplify assembly and production of electrical components or end products.
  • Sets up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life cycle tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype(s) or production model(s).
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions.
  • Conducts electrical functionality tests, collects data to ensure product meets the desired product requirements for the life of the product.
  • Assembles experimental circuitry or complete prototype model according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems and components.
  • Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Analyzes, interprets test data. Makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Contributes to team effort by performing other tasks as appropriate and/or necessary.
  • Creates and maintains pre-production checklists for products to pass before production.

Relationships

 

The position reports directly to the Manager, Hardware Development.

 

Internally, the Electronics Technician III will work closely with the R&D group, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance departments in order to achieve the objectives. They must promote positive and effective working relationships and work cooperatively to provide quality service.

 

Externally, the Electronics Technician III will work with outside collaborators, consultants, vendors, users and customers as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required

 

Education:

  • 4-6 Years of experience with Electronic Degree or 7+ years of demonstrated relevant experience. Competency in repairing electronic circuit testing, troubleshooting and manufacturing at component level.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years experience in digital electronic design.
  • At least 3-5 years experience in Digital Signal Processing design.
  • Ability to follow and read work instructions, prints, schematics, drawings, etc.
  • Strong technical computer system (hardware & software) knowledge with standards such as 802.11, USB, Bluetooth, HDMI
  • Hands-on problem solving style.
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to create informative documentation for end users such as installation, specifications and user instructions.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed, requiring minimal oversight to meet objectives and timelines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • 12VDC Vehicle background of high value
  • USB Data and Power Specification background of high value
