Summary:

As a Mechanical Developer Intern at FUJIFILM VisualSonics, you will be a member of the New Product Hardware Development team and assist the team with the completing the tasks associated with the final stages of development prior to production release of a high performance, innovative ultrasound system. You will help to build prototype systems, update mechanical design files and assist in conducting engineering confidence testing and generating relevant technical reports. This is an opportunity to learn the development lifecycle and process through specification, design, development, manufacturing and support.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with building prototype systems, sub-assemblies and cables
  • Assist with conducting engineering confidence testing and generate technical reports
  • Update assembly instructions
  • Review FAI samples from suppliers of outsourced components and generate reports
  • Assist with updating manufacturing files for system NPI parts and tools based on design updates and feedback from testing (3D CAD, 2D drawings in SolidWorks)
  • Work cross-functionally with other engineering disciplines (Electrical Engineering, Firmware Engineering, Silicon Engineering & Software Engineering)

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Enrolled in an academic program working toward a Mechanical Engineering degree or related discipline
  • Familiar with CAD Software, preferably SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with machine shop tools and procedures an asset

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-driven, organized and good with time management
  • Excellent dexterity and coordination for working with miniature devices
  • Ability to work with hands and perform meticulous tasks with precision
  • Ability to thrive in a diverse, cross-functional environment
  • Ability to use MS Office applications for communication and documentation
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, with or without accommodations

Hourly internship rate: $20.50
